Well thank goodness that is over for another 20 years. I saw the first one - rushed back from delivering a boat to France and watched it at Hayling on the beach if I recall - but I saw very little of the repeat. Oops, I meant 2005 version. Freudian non?
I'm not going to get into the politics, save to say that Dubbya has it about right on this one... no change: no money. These folks really have to be in a position to help themselves and until the thieving governments are replaced by a system that works (utopian? probably) it is an incurable problem.
At least this did focus on awreness and my how you could not have failed to be aware. A full bore media blitz at saturation levels ensured no one was unscathed. I caught the tail end of Saturday featuring the Who (well, Daltrey and Townsend anyway) but was too tired for Pink Floyd.
Two things surprised me: first, most of the folks in the audience were probably not even born when Keith Moon was smashing up hotel rooms and messrs Waters and Gilmour stopped speaking to each other. And second, just a tinge of irony in the Who's set: Who are you?, followed by Won't get fooled again?
Really? Hope not, but somehow I doubt it.
