The 911 has been here a month now and I finally got round to taking her to the local Porsche Centre to have a couple of things done post shipping. The windscreen has a slight leak - supposedly fixed in Hong Kong but not - and the central locking is playing up. Others niggles such as the inconsistent wing operation and non functioning odometer appear to have self repaired. Clever things Porsches. The car is running better than ever and I really think the opportunity to let her stretch her legs a bit (euphamism for being able to have a good long thrash twice a week!) has improved the performance.

Anyway I got chatting with the service manager who told me they did plenty of work on 'older' 911's and had a couple of RS's in the shop... in fact they had one 1974 RS and one 1973 RSR. For those in the know the '73 RSR is seriously rare. They made only 50, this is the last sky blue one left and, having been in a collection since the early '80's, is mint. It was spectacular. Carbon bonnet, alloy doors, fibreglass wings etc. They gave me the full guided tour and I think they should be paying the owner for the privilege to work on the car. It will be at the national Porsche show in England next week. One lucky owner.

I'm off karting tomorrow and have a 120 mile dash to get there... looking forward to that as much as the racing.
